Sinfonia Napoletana explores the relationship between sound and identity in Naples’s urban landscape. This photographic project attempts to answer a deceptively simple question: What does a city sound like? Can we define a place not only by what we see but also by what we hear or by how those sounds resonate within us?
Naples is a city that never stops vibrating. From the sharp cries of market vendors to the distant hum of Vespas, from clinking coffee cups to bursts of laughter echoing in public squares, every corner composes its fragment of an ever-evolving urban symphony. In this series, I attempt to translate those ephemeral sonic moments into images, inviting viewers to “listen” with their eyes; Naples serves as the backdrop and the protagonist of this visual-sonic composition.
Sinfonia Napoletana emerged during the workshop Napoli, manuale di istruzioni, led by Cristina De Middel and organized by TheDock’s, and later became part of a collective zine published by the platform.
